Our teachers were selected and attended a district organized workshop on Continuing Professional Development. This continued learning is so beneficial and we are very grateful for the opportunity to keep our teachers engaged and knowledgeable.
CCCU had Lora from SES come to visit, and once again donate her time and knowledge, to help the improvement and advancement of our teachers. She worked together with the teacher to help them to develop their yearly curriculums.
Thanks to donations, CCCU was able to install a fence around the perimeter of the property! This is a huge accomplishment for the school as it will greatly improve safety. There was concern for the children, the farm, and the property itself - so this installation has eased some fear and has brought further security to the children and property.
The women's group is having a blast making and selling soaps! They have elected a leader and are working together as a group and earning funds. This ability to make money and contribute to their families is a wonderful opportunity and they’ve been doing a great job.
CCCU welcomed a visit from Sole Hope! Over 500 community members and children were given shoes thanks to Sole Hope visit. This was extremely impactful and helps to prevent future disease and injury, thank you Sole Hope!
MCEC registered with the Ministry Education of Sports over the summer of 2023! This registration means that our school’s populus data will be collected as well as the bio data of each child. This will help to keep the school organized and in good standing with the district.
Thanks to the donation from Terra Tech and Fly & Help, we were able to add new classrooms, new staff quarters, and new sanitary facilities! These were much needed additions to support the growth of MCEC, and we are so grateful to have received this donation and opportunity!
In August of 2022, MCEC was fortunate enough to host Ms. Lora for four weeks. Lora taught widows the skills of making fireless cooker baskets and expanded the teachers’ knowledge of the mathematics curriculum!
In July of 2021, the Ugandan Government's school naming convention changed, requiring CCCU to change the name of the school to The Magooli Children's Education Center Namayingo. Same great school with an updated identity
As the Magooli Children's Education Center Namayingo (MCEC) grows, so must the school! A generous donor stepped forward to fund the construction of three additional classrooms, growing our total school size to seven classrooms as of December 2020! We are thrilled to be able to provide a continuous education for these children.
The CCCU garden, planted by the children, contains passion fruit, mangos, oranges, and avocados with plans in place to expand and grow even more. These fruits supply the cook and rest of the village with a healthy supply of foods that would ordinarily have to be purchased.
CCCU is pleased to announce that we are introducing a poultry farm set up to the village! We have constructed a chicken house as well as a bu8ilding to hold the feed grinder. CCCU ordered 700 chicks, which will provide food to the school and children. Once established, this farm will allow the village to not only have a consistent supply

A BIG thank you to eMite for donating a new kitchen to CCCU! Thanks to their support, MCEC can provide food security for all of the 160 children we support. Prior to a dedicated kitchen building, our cook had to struggle to cook outside under a tree in all types of weather. Not only is she now able to cook through rain & wind, but she also has a safe and secure area to store any excess food. This is a HUGE improvement from how we operated before, we can’t thank eMite enough for funding this project.

Thanks to a generous donor, a second water tank was funded and built on property in March of 2020! This water tank sits behind the school collecting rainwater runoff and will ensure that the school and community have safe drinking water for years to come.

Prior to sending Brigitte, two SES representatives came to Magooli to visit the school and community. Daniela Tscherpel, Project Coordinator Africa wrote:
“We were really impressed by this modest but beautiful small school in this very remote area of Eastern Uganda. Apparently the access to education is very limited in this area but even bigger is the problem of paying for the school fees – a challenge that can’t be met by most of the rural poor families. This is why the formation of Magooli Academy is a very important step of creating access to education for the children and at the same time opening up a path to a better future for them. ”
Mrs. Brigitte came to MACN with over 20 years experience as a headmistress. Not to mention having worked at a school with over 400 pupils! She has a great deal of
knowledge about school structures, lessons, and support and was able to bring that to MACN and assist our teachers. Mrs. Brigitte assisted and guided our teachers in building
lesson plans, individually supporting students, and working with parents, all to enable the child’s education to the best of their abilities.
With the completion of one full year of school, CCCU needed to raise money to add a classroom enabling the older children to move on and continue their education. The funds were raised and in December of 2019 the Magooli Children's Education Center Namayingo (MCEC) got it's fourth classroom.

After MCEC opened its doors to students on February 4th, 2019, the district inspector of schools visited the site and informed CCCU that we needed to erect a water tank on property within a month or else the school would be shut down. Once again our lovely supporters came together and raised money for the water tank. In June of 2019 water tank construction began. It took local workers just two weeks to finish the tank. The water tank is a 30,000 liter (8,000 gallon) rain collection tank which collects rain water from the roof of the school. When it rains, all the rainfall that hits the roof drains into gutters that feed into the collection tank. There is then a covered tap on the side of the tank to allow for easy retrieval access. The tank provides drinking water for the school and community, it can provide approximately 300 people 50 liters of water.
This has a huge impact on the community as children no longer have to walk long distances, during the school day, lake shores infested with crocodiles. This water tank will be able to provide the school and community water for years to come.

Latrine construction began in December of 2018 and took local workers three short weeks to complete. The latrine on property is a called a pit latrine, which is a type of toilet that collects human waste in a deep pit in the ground that is connected to a toilet or squatting pan for comfort.

In March of 2019, CCCU adapted their current logo to make what is now MCEC’s school badge. Then came the creation of the motto: Learn, Grow, Succeed - because that is exactly what CCCU hopes to accomplish through educating youth at MCEC. The mock up design was sent to a local Ugandan sign designer and within a week he was able to create the beautiful sign that now stands on school grounds.

To construct the three classrooms at The Magooli Children's Education Center Namayingo it took local workers about 11 months. We ran into several hurdles during this process that slowed down or halted the work. The funding for this school was a group collection effort that at times slowed or halted causing work to do the same. Additionally, there was a heavy rain season that caused worked to stop (and even wash away) causing extra work upon restarting.
We first started with the foundation, followed by laying bricks for walls while framing for doors and windows. This is where we ran into the rainy season and the rain began to wash away the cement mixture holding the brick together. With the help of our donors we were able to raise enough money to start roof construction! In September of 2019 we finished the roof and closed off the school from any more rain. By October 2019, we had installed metal windows and doors throughout the building to ensure safety from any wildlife. Come end of January 2019 the school was completely plastered and ready for the children to start their first term!
The opening of the school in the community means that all of the orphaned children in the village have the opportunity for an education. These children no longer have to walk long distances to over crowded classes day in and day out. MACN bring opportunity and hope to the children in the village.
Thanks to Liz and "Liz's Craft Bags" the CCCU women's group have been empowered with the new skill of bag weaving. Liz came to the village and spent a few days with the women teaching them how to weave and design bags. These bags will be sold to help sustain the women and this new form of income.
Most of the children live in small huts with a guardian. One night, two children left a candle burning overnight. A fire engulfed the hut and they lost everything. We were able to supply the distressed family with new bedding, clothes, and food.
The children of the community do not have many clothes, and the clothes they do have are ripped and torn. Several times a year we try to supply them with some new clothes, and each child also now has a Child Crisis Center Uganda white tee shirt as well.
Donate here to help CCCU fund ongoing projects.
