The Magooli Academy for Children Namayingo (MACN) has been constructed and classes are in session! The school has three classrooms as of now, with more in the plans. The opening of the school in the community means that all of the orphaned children in the village have the opportunity for an education. These children no longer have to walk long distances to over crowded classes day in and day out. MACN bring opportunity and hope to the children in the village.
For the school to be open, latrines are required on property. The latrines on the property are called pit latrines. These latrines collect human waste in a long drop into the ground- or a pit, which is connected to a seat or squatting pan for comfort. These latrines are one of the cheapest forms of basic sanitation costing only about $2 to $12 USD per person per year.

A water tank was built on property in May of 2019. This had a huge impact on the community as children no longer have to walk long distances, during the school day, lake shores infested with crocodiles. The rain water from the school roof will now drain to the gutters leading to the water tank and collect there. This water tank will be able to provide the school and community water for years to come.
Thanks to a generous donor, a second water tank was funded and built on property in March of 2020! This water tanks will ensure that the school and community have safe drinking water for years to come.
With the completion of one full year of school, CCCU needed to raise money to add a classroom enabling the older children to move on and continue their education. The funds were raised and in December of 2019 the Magooli Academy for Children Namayingo (MACN) got it's fourth classroom.
As the Magooli Academy for Children Namayingo (MACN) grows, so must the school! A generous donor stepped forward to fund the construction of three additional classrooms, growing our total school size to seven classrooms as of December 2020! We are thrilled to be able to provide a continuous education for these children.
The children of the community do not have many clothes, and the clothes they do have are ripped and torn. Several times a year we try to supply them with some new clothes, and each child also now has a Child Crisis Center Uganda white tee shirt as well.
Most of the children live in small huts with a guardian. One night, two children left a candle burning overnight. A fire engulfed the hut and they lost everything. We were able to supply the distressed family with new bedding, clothes, and food.
Thanks to Liz and "Liz's Craft Bags" the CCCU women's group have been empowered with the new skill of bag weaving. Liz came to the village and spent a few days with the women teaching them how to weave and design bags. These bags will be sold to help sustain the women and this new form of income.
